Music/Worship Pastor

The Music/Worship Pastor will be responsible for planning, leading, and coordinating all aspects of the church’s music ministry, working closely with the Pastor and staff to create meaningful worship experiences that glorify God and engage the congregation.

• Plan and lead music for weekly worship services and special services
• Direct and develop choirs, ensembles, and/or praise teams
• Select music that is theologically sound and appropriate for congregational worship
• Coordinate rehearsals and schedules for musicians and vocalists
• Work collaboratively with pastoral staff and church leadership
• Oversee music ministry volunteers and encourage spiritual growth within the team assist with special events, seasonal programs, and church-wide services as needed

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a calling to music ministry
• Experience leading church music ministry (education in music or ministry preferred)
• Ability to work with both traditional and contemporary worship styles (as applicable to the church)
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Willingness to support the mission and values of Westwood Baptist Church

Live Oak is a small North Florida city with a population of approximately 7,000 residents and serves as the county seat of Suwannee County. While the city itself is modest in size, the county is home to roughly 45,000 people spread across more than 680 square miles of farms, forests, country roads, and small communities.

Life in Live Oak moves at a different pace than larger cities. People still wave from their vehicles, local restaurants know their regulars, and Friday night football remains a community event. The area offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, from nearby rivers and springs to hunting, fishing, camping, and family gatherings. Families will find a variety of activities available for children and youth through local schools, community organizations, and the city’s Parks and Recreation Department. Local parks, playgrounds, and community events also offer gathering places for families and residents of all ages.

Westwood Baptist Church is located on the southwest side of Live Oak and draws families from both the city and the surrounding communities throughout Suwannee County. The area around the church reflects the character of North Florida—a blend of long-time residents, growing families, and people who value strong relationships, community involvement, and faith. Because of its location, the church has the opportunity to minister not only to Live Oak residents but also to many neighboring communities that consider Live Oak their hometown hub.
