Statement of Mission
Go live out God’s Word in His world by focusing on the core values of Praying, Attending, Giving, Evangelizing, and Serving. This strategy will require a Gather and Go (Centralized/Decentralized) approach.

Summary/Objective
The primary responsibility of the Minister to Children is to lead Hyde Park to introduce children (birth through 5th grade) to Jesus Christ (Matt 28:18-20), disciple them toward Christlikeness (Col 1:28-29) and equip them to serve Christ with their life (Eph 4:11-16). A significant aspect of leading Hyde Park to disciple children will be to engage/equip/empower parents in their Biblical role as primary disciple makers (Deut 6:4-8).

Job Responsibilities & Duties

  1. Assist in the planning and implementation of a growth strategy within our Discipleship Ministries which focuses on the priorities of Praying, Attending, Giving, Evangelizing, & Serving.
  2. Introduce others to Jesus Christ, disciple them in spiritual growth, and train them to serve Him with the goal of encouraging others to become devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
  3. Assist in Sunday Grow Groups, Midweek Bible Study, Special Events, Outreach, Follow-up, and Shepherding.
  4. Demonstrate good stewardship of the facilities & budget.
  5. Develop the overall children’s ministry of Hyde Park Baptist Church. Recruit, train, and coach volunteers to implement ministry objectives.
  6. Be acquainted with the personal lives of families (for example: visit homes, attend school events, and make hospital visits).
  7. Foster open communication with parents/guardians.
  8. Maintain a well-planned, carefully balanced program throughout the year coordinated with the church calendar of events.
  9. Responsible for all kids ministry events (for example: VBS, retreats/camps, and special events).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. A vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree required. Seminary degree preferred.
  3. Experience in leading a Children’s Ministry.
  4. Pass a background check.
  5. Must love and relate well with others and have a passion for evangelism, outreach, and teaching Biblical truths.
  6. Able to manage and lead others to embrace and fulfill a vision.
  7. Possesses strong professional communication, organizational, and relational skills.
  8. Self-motivated individual who is also a friendly and enthusiastic team player.
  9. Demonstrates flexibility to a variety of changing events, schedules, and priorities. Able to work under pressure.

  3. Exposure to varying extremes of cold and hot temperatures.
  4. Ability to use a vehicle to visit multiple campuses/activities.
  5. Flexible schedule due to non-standard hours based on ministry needs. May require split shifts on Sundays and/or for special events.
